More talk from Photokina 2008 that new 35 1.8 AFS & 85 1.4 AFS prime lenses could be on the way soon. Nothing official announced as yet but a German visitor to the show has said a Nikon rep there mentioned the new lenses. More information at Nikon Rumours, here.

Now although I’m a Nikon shooter, I’m not one of these people that gets tied up in the brand wars. I can fully appreciate when any camera manufacturer breaks new ground as I’m a technology geek, and with that in mind I thought it would be well worth mentioning Canon’s new 5D Mark II camera and pointing you to a site that has a stunning short film, shot entirely on a pre-production model of Canon’s new DSLR.

Photokina 2008, Nikon have announced the long awaited AFS version of the tried and trusted 50mm prime lens. More information can be found here. I’m looking forward to reading reviews on how this new lens performs on FF camera’s as I’ve been thinking about picking one of these up for the D3. It would make a handy throw-in-the-bag lens for when I’m out shooting with my telephotos.

Well after an superb trip to Florida I’ve been back in blighty since Monday. However I’ve been working all week and I’m flying out to France for the weekend to go to a friends wedding so I’ll start processing and writing up my Florida experience for next week. Had a great time though and can’t wait to go back!

Well, after the headache of trying to arrange a way of getting my big lenses on holiday with me and failing miserably (nobody mention Virgin’s hand luggage restrictions, it’s a sensitive subject…), I’m finally off for a 12 day holiday to Florida wed morning to visit a friend and escape the wonderful British summer we have been having! Fingers crossed I’ll catch lots of sun in between dodging bits of the landscape flying through the air at high speed…! Weather depending there are plans to visit the Everglades, Key West, see the Miami Dolphins play, check out some wetlands centres and anything else that can be squeezed in. Even though I’m not taking the big glass I hopefully have enough equipment with me to cover the bases to get some good photographs. So I ’should’ come home with some great shots and a sparkling clean house (the benefit of having a cleaning obsessed sister house sit!).
So that’s it, shorts and flip flops packed…off I go…

My friend recently upgraded his Nikon 600/4 to the new VR version…he offered me a very good deal on his old one that I just could not say no too…! I’ve not had much chance to use it. However I thought I’d share a couple of my first shots and imperssions so far including one of the best features I’ve ever seen on a lens…
