I have shot a minimum of 60k shots with this lens, and I never cease to be amazed by what it can do, whether on a D3, D700 or D300. There is nothing quite like it.

Excellent writeup. Enjoyed reading it. Just got this lens and love it.
Thanks again for taking the time. You should be writing for magazines.

[...] Watching the Red Deer and the Fallow Deer at Richmond Park is a special opportunity to witness these impressive beasts. Don’t get too close - they can be unpredictable at the best of times. Add horny at this time of year for a hormonal cocktail of nervous doe and roaring stag! It can be a bit unnerving.
Oh, gorgeous images. I have been to Richmond Park for the deer too, but now wish that I'd more time to get out there and hang around, because the photo opportunities are great. Sunrise looks a good time, and you were very fortunate with the mist. Perfect.

Thanks for the comments, glad you like the mods. Florence I trust you received the email I sent you at the time of your original question.

Srirama, the work involved makes the cost of doing these mods every now and again very expensive. As such it would probably be cheaper to buy something like the Lowepro Lens Trekker 600 II bag, that can be had for £130 if you shop around.

Thanks for the review. Just reinforced the decision I took to order one without trying. I will get my lens next week.

Hi Srirama, I did the same thing, ordered before trying. You won't regret it!

Crikey that must be a big lens!! Thankfully my largest is a 500mm which fits my Lowepro computer trekker very well - although I no longer use mine to carry a laptop around because my laptop won't fit!!!!!
