Yep that’s right, Nikon have released the specs for the anticipated D90 and the big shock of the show is…MOVIE mode. That’s right, the first DSLR to record moving footage, and at 720p resolution, is here…

Well forums, blogs and photography sites across the net are full of people praising or putting down some of the features of this new model, not least the movie mode. Is it worth having in a DSLR, do its limitations make it a pointless feature? Wouldn’t you just buy a camcorder if you wanted to record footage? One thing I do know, is that there is a great little write up and video about the new camera by Chase Jarvis who has been field testing the camera ahead of release. You can watch his video and read about his testing on his blog, here.

I’ve stuck in a brief over view of the D90’s specs below but for a more informed look check out the D90 page on Nikon’s website.

i would say that this camera will appeal mostly to enthusiasts and the movie mode will distinguish it from its contemporaries. After all this is now becoming a very crowded end of the market.
